Come with us to travel back to our home in Puebla Mexico! This trip felt very different for us and was full of mixed emotions. While we love our family and our visits, Mexico is home and where our family is together. It’s good to be home. #ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
While Fidel was detained and awaiting deportation, fishing was our escape. It was one of our favorite things to do as a family and we loved it including Fidel. So I kept our poles and tackle box in my trunk and anytime Diego or I needed it we stopped and got the ingredients for bologna sandwiches, snacks and drinks and went fishing. Now he eats it every time we visit the US. #ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
Fidel officially has his new smile (minus the 3 implants coming soon)! When he was deported and we moved to Mexico we made a 10 year plan. We had a couple of things on our plan including starting our homebuild but helping Fidel get to this particular goal of a new smile was also on the plan. 8 1/2 years of living here and this goal is now a reality! #ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
Here’s a look at the Easter egg hunt we did for the kindergartners! As part of the English class I volunteer to teach for the kindergarten in our pueblo, I include how we celebrate holidays in the US. #tradition #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
This year Diego asked if he could do something special for the Kindergarten moms here in our pueblo for Mother’s Day. We couldn’t be more proud of him and I am grateful everyday to be his mom. #mothersday #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
My mom was right I really did need a haircut 😂 I’m determined to find a stylist in Puebla so I can prioritize this better. #ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation

5 years ago today I posted a TikTok that changed our lives and it’s all thanks to you guys! I’ve seen this community do incredible things and my hope is that we can make Alex and Vanessa’s day in true familia fashion! Thank you to each of you for being here and being a part of our journey living here in Mexico after deportation. We love and appreciate you all! @Vanessa_and_Alex♿️ @Rafael E. / 📍🇲🇽 #ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
The flooring in our homebuild here in Mexico is done in two parts. Once the dirt is packed and level, Fidel and Pancho will add gravel, a moisture barrier, a rebar mesh and concrete. After that, they will install our final flooring. Stay tuned! #buildingahouse #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
A look at what it is like for us to visit the US from our home in Mexico after my husband’s deportation from the US. We are so grateful to see everyone but we miss Fidel and our home so much. #ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation

#ourjourney #livinginmexico #ourlifeafterdeportation
