He offered me three meters of an incredible fabric—a blend of Alpaca and Derbyshire Gritstone sheep’s wool, shorn by Andrew himself. The wool was undyed, processed in Cornwall, woven in Bristol, delivered to me in Towcester, and finally hand-delivered to my tailor @Souster & Hicks in Woburn, where it was crafted into the exquisite coat you see in this video. In Andrew’s words, this is “a shockingly expensive fabric to produce,” but it embodies everything clothing should be, with super high welfare standards, he even included a photo of the Gritstone lambs warming themselves by the AGA. The result is an heirloom piece, designed to last a lifetime, reminding us to focus on how often we use our clothes (that cost per wear), rather than how many items we own.
