It’s Science Friday, friends! 🌊🌿 Diving into our star ingredients: bull kelp, or Nereocystis luetkeana, which makes our Alaska kelp pickles and hot sauces so unique and flavorful. Bull kelp is a coastal superstar, growing all the way from Alaska down to California. It features a long, tube-like stipe topped with leafy fronds that stretch towards the surface. 🌱 Throughout the summer, it produces patches of spores, known as sori, that eventually sink to the seafloor, releasing billions of spores to regenerate next year’s kelp beds. These little spores also help support kelp farming, where they’re cultivated on lines that make up kelp farms. It’s all about the cycle of nature, folks.
