3PM | Santa Claus returns to Longyearbyen 🎄🧑🏼‍🎄. ♡ According to Longyearbyen legend, Santa Claus lives in a mine in the mountainside in Longyearbyen. Every year on the first of advent he returns, turning on the lights in his mine and placing a postbox at the foot of the mountain. Everyone gathers to walk through the dark, polar night streets, with only the light of our torches leading the way. We pass by the postbox for the kids to drop off their wish lists, then make our way to the town square to light the Christmas tree. It’s a truly magical day and one of my favorite traditions here in our little town. 🎄🧑🏼‍🎄✨ ♡ #longyearbyen #svalbard #polarnight #1advent
