We made a custom look for @chappell roan ! Where to begin?! The construction of this ensemble began just six days before Orange Festival in Warsaw, Poland. @genesis webb and Chappell presented one of the coolest inspirations I’ve ever seen, and we knew we had to take it on. This look would combine both my expertise and love for historical fashion with Chris’ incredible photorealistic painting skills and creative genius. ( we painted this in 3 days when he usually spends like 6 months on a painting, so can you imagine if he’d have had 6 months😍 The concept was meta and self-referential: Chappell would appear multiple times in the outfit, with each of her heads wearing an Elizabethan ruff (including her own). The process started with a custom 3D head sculpt by Christopher, which we then 3D printed for both the hat and the scepter. Christopher hand-painted her face onto each piece, and we topped them off with fiery locks of hair to match hers. Yes—both the hat and the scepter have their own hats and ruffs. 🤣 I created the bra, bloomer panty, corset, and giant ruff skirt, which Christopher later hand-painted with a photo-realistic version of Chappell’s face across the corset and bra. The idea was that, when worn together, the bra and corset would form a portrait of her face. Then, in a burlesque-style reveal, the corset and skirt could be torn away to uncover a nearly Great Gatsby-esque set of eyes on the bra underneath. This look includes: • Seven quilted duchess satin Elizabethan ruffs, piped with color-shifting silk taffeta • Four hand-beaded Chantilly lace masks, each scaled to fit a different “head” • A 3D sculpted and printed version of Chappell’s head, hand-painted as a Venetian doll—complete with a mask, gloved hands holding its own scepter, and an ornate, surreal vibe • A 3D sculpted and printed miniature version of her head, also hand-painted and dressed in its own tiny hat and Elizabethan ruff • Custom shoelaces and appliqués • And a fuck-ton of love and hard work Massive shoutout to the team who helped bring this to life—WOW: Stylist / Creative Direction: @genesiswebb Designers: @gunnardeatherage @christopherminafo Custom Painting: @christopherminafo Seamstresses / Stitchers: @Renacio , Julia Brown, and Allie Pawlukojc Makeup Inspiration for the Paintings: @1800andrewdahling 3D Print Tech: “MD” I also have to give a massive thank-you to my Project Runway family. l asked my partner to marry me! When I was dreaming up the perfect place to propose, I kept coming back to the idea of somewhere breathtaking— somewhere that felt like a fairytale. I'd always heard about the beauty of New Zealand, and while researching, I stumbled across Queenstown... a slice of magic that felt like it was made for us. The scenery was surreal, the town full of charm and adventure, and at the base of the aptly named Remarkables, I asked @Christopher Minafo to marry me. This truly was the trip of a lifetime. I Recreated Blake Lively’s Met Gala Gown ( in about 24 hours😅) with one of my besties @Shay ! It’s met gala season so I wanted to revisit one of my favroites! Shay also lovingly modeled for me! We challenged each other to a Blake Lively-off last year to see who could create the best Blake Lively recreation in 24 hours! Planning a Princess Diaries themed birthday for my Partner, @Christopher Minafo to celebrate his 30th birthday! I am honestly so thankful this party went off without a hitch. This was months of planning while I was also simultaneously planning a 20 day trip to Australia and New Zealand to propose to him, and also planned a surprise party for all of our Los Angeles friends on our layover to Australia, lol to say the least, I'm feeling thankful, and tired! We decided we're better together. asked Chris to marry me while on our trip to New Zealand, and he said yes we have had a magical three years together, and have grown and learned so much with and about each other. I've never met someone who challenged me to be more creative, push my own boundaries, and think bigger. I'm so thankful to have found someone who makes me better! I love you @Christopher Minafo !
